In TCM, Wood element is associated with qualities of growth, expansion, flexibility, and resilience. It represents the force of upward and outward movement, similar to the way trees grow and branches extend.  It corresponds to the Liver and Gallbladder. These organs are responsible for regulating the flow of Chi (life force energy) throughout the body, ensuring the smooth movement of blood and emotions. Anger and frustration are the emotions associated with the Wood element. A balanced Wood element allows for assertiveness and clear decision-making, while an imbalance can lead to excessive anger or irritability.

From an aromatherapeutic point of ELEMENTALS Wood has been created to align with the principles of TCM using carefully curated essential oils  to support and balance a lack of the Wood element.  Let’s explore how each essential oil contributes to addressing a deficiency in the Wood element:

Bergamot has a bright and citrusy aroma that is known for its uplifting effects. It can help counteract feelings of irritability, frustration, and anger that are often associated with imbalanced Wood energy.

Grapefruit essential oil has a fresh and uplifting scent. Its invigorating aroma can help uplift the mood and promote a sense of positivity and enthusiasm, addressing emotional imbalances associated with a lack of Wood element.

Cedarwood emits a grounding and woody fragrance that fosters a sense of inner strength and resilience, aligning with the Wood element’s quality of flexibility and strength.

Tagetes (Marigold): Tagetes has a bright and citrus-like aroma. Its cheerful scent can promote a positive outlook and reduce feelings of anger or frustration, aligning with the Wood element’s need for assertiveness and clarity

Palo Santo offers a rich and resinous aroma. Its purifying and clarifying properties can help clear emotional blockages and promote mental clarity, which supports the Wood element’s goal of clear decision-making.

An imbalance in the Wood element might manifest as liver-related issues, digestive problems, or emotional challenges related to anger and frustration.  To harmonize the Wood element, TCM suggests practices that support the Liver and Gallbladder, such as a balanced diet, stress management, and regular exercise. Engaging in activities that promote creativity, planning, and goal-setting can also help restore balance to the Wood element.
